Things To Do in Ecuador

Things to do in Ecuador.

Ecuador is an amazingly diverse country where there are countless activities to do for adventurers or just travellers with an eye for shopping or relaxing.

Made famous by English theorist Charles Darwin the Galapagos Islands are the place to take a trip to discover the wonderful wildlife there. You can go swimming with sea lions or just take in the incredibly interesting animals that are there from penguins to giant tortoises.

Why not visit the equator, known in Ecuador as the Mitad del Mundo or middle of the world in the neighbourhood of La Mariscal.

If you’re a shopping aficionado head to Otavalo Market, located about a three-hour bus ride north of Quito. This is South America’s largest marketplace and is perfect to pick up a few authentic souvenirs and gifts. Head there on a Saturday when the market is at its largest with vendors from the surrounding region.

Visiting South America should mean tourists take a trip to the Amazon so book some time with the exotic wildlife and learn about the indigenous people who call this region of the world their home. You can take a fairly cheap three-day guided trip from the capital Quito.

The city of Baños may be small but it is filled with a number of activities including canyoning, white-water rafting, mountain-biking and waterfall tours. If you’re a surfing fan then you can learn to pick up the popular sport in Montanita and get involved in the area’s thriving nightlife and of course if you like the sun then settle down on the beautiful beach for some relaxing time during your trip.

Why not get active and take a dance class in the capital Quito by heading to Academia Salsa and Merengue in the district of Mariscal. Once you have mastered the skills you can venture to discos Seseribo or Mayo 68 to try out your moves as these two places specialise in salsa and merengue.

There is so much to do in Ecuador that will engage tourists throughout their trip that it is vital to work out what you want to do and stick to a travelling plan.
